Cesky Krumlov overview

Built upon the banks of the meandering Vltava River, Cesky Krumlov is widely known for its wonderful Baroque and Renaissance architecture. Overshadowing the town is the majestic castle, which is well worth a visit if only for the spectacular views. The town was also once the home of painter Egon Schiele and the art centre built in his name often hosts exhibitions by some of the world’s best known artists. Because there is so much river in Cesky Krumlov depending on the time of year it is possible to join the locals for a swim or just spend a lazy day enjoying the spectacular architecture from a raft. In peak season the town is extremely popular with tourists being bused in from Prague, but this is no excuse not to visit. Just try to avoid watching the Eli Roth directed Hostel films before coming.
